Gazprom Nedra strengthens safety culture in seismic exploration

Gazprom Nedra is betting on increasing safety levels and improving employee training before the new season seismic exploration. The company is developing a system of preventive measures and unites specialists to develop solutions that will reduce risks in the field.

A session dedicated to risk management during seismic exploration was held in Tyumen. The event brought together managers and experts from Gazprom Nedra, as well as employees of the Tomskgazgeofizika production branch. Participants discussed current security issues and ways to improve the level of security of field crews.

First Deputy General Director of the company Evgeniy Nikonov recalled that the work of geophysicists takes place in difficult conditions. Extreme climates, long distances, wetlands and the need for heavy equipment make safety a key element field season. He noted that improvements are only possible with the responsible participation of each employee.

Deputy General Director – Chief Engineer of Gazprom Nedra Anatoly Sukhodolov spoke about the positive changes achieved over the past year. The company updated its approach to industrial safety, strengthened the involvement of field employees, improved medical support and provided personnel with modern protective equipment. These steps have improved the quality of work and created safer working conditions.

The head of the Exploration Geophysics Department, Sergei Nizovtsev, spoke about plans for the 2025–2026 season. According to him, the teams will have to carry out a large amount of seismic exploration in Yamal and Yakutia. The work will take place in a complex natural environment, where it is important to strictly follow safety rules and take into account all risks.

As a result of the session, the company received proposals from specialists that will help improve the processes of preparation and organization of field work. Gazprom Nedra continues to strengthen its safety culture, making it the basis for successful seismic exploration and personnel protection.
