In Transbaikalia they are preparing for large-scale development of the Carian gold deposits. The new investor, the Gold Plus company, plans to begin production as early as 2030. The region expects economic growth and new jobs.
Carian field in the Sretensky region of Transbaikalia, known since 1902, finally got a chance for industrial development. After many years exploration work the license to develop the site was acquired by the Gold Plus company. The cost of the license at the auction increased from 269 million to 2.4 billion rubles, and the validity of the agreement will be 25 years.
According to the state balance sheet, ore gold reserves at the deposit are estimated at 4.4 tons. This will ensure the long-term operation of the enterprise and stable tax revenues to the regional budget. Plot with an area of 17.2 sq. km is located 23 km from the village of Ust-Karsk, next to the Kara River.
The authorities of Transbaikalia have already discussed the terms of the project with the investor. According to preliminary agreements, the company must conduct additional exploration, confirm reserves and develop a raw material processing scheme. Particular attention will be paid to preparation qualified personnel for the future enterprise.
Gold Plus, registered in Birobidzhan, has been owned by Chinese entrepreneur Pan Jiantao since 2019. The company’s financial indicators are growing: in 2023, its revenue amounted to 580 million rubles, and net profit – 158 million.
Experts attribute interest in the Kariya deposit to the growth in global demand for gold and the activity of Asian investors in Russian resource projects. The implementation of this project will be an important step in the development of the mining industry in Transbaikalia.
The start of gold mining at the Kariya deposit in 2030 will open new prospects for the Trans-Baikal Territory. The project will attract investment, create jobs and strengthen the region’s position in the gold mining industry.
