Polyus has published a sustainability report for 2024, confirming significant progress in environmental policy. Key achievements include a complete transition to carbon-free energy and a 27% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2020.
For four years in a row, all Polyus production facilities have been operating exclusively on renewable energy sources. The company not only purchases electricity from hydroelectric power plants, but also confirms its “green” origin with special certificates.
Another important result is a reduction in gross emissions by 27% over four years. Coal consumption also decreased by 12% compared to 2023.
Polyus allocated 7.9 billion rubles for environmental protection, which is almost 1.5 times more than in the previous year. Of these, 36.4 million rubles were invested in biodiversity conservation projects.
Technological innovation also played an important role:
- A monitoring system for tailings storage facilities has been introduced at four mines.
- The gold recovery factory in Transbaikalia started working intelligent system tips for technologists.
- The new SRM platform has automated supply management.
Total investments in digitalization amounted to 190 million rubles.
Polyus CEO Alexey Vostokov noted that further reduction of environmental impact remains the company’s priority. “Our strategy combines operational efficiency, environmental responsibility and digital technologies,” he emphasized.
The company continues to develop climate projects and improve energy efficiency, demonstrating leadership in the field of sustainable development.
