Russian scientists are creating a new generation of quantum sensors that will radically increase the efficiency of oil exploration deposits. The development will make it possible to detect mineral deposits with an accuracy that is tens of times greater than traditional methods.

Specialists from the Center for Quantum Technologies of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov developed a comprehensive program for the creation of innovative measuring devices. The operating principle of the new sensors is based on recording microscopic gravitational anomalies – minor changes in the Earth’s gravitational field that indicate the presence of underground deposits.

The key advantage of the technology is the unprecedented sensitivity of the equipment. Quantum sensors are capable of detecting even minimal fluctuations that are inaccessible to standard methods intelligence. This will provide ultra-precise location of mineral deposits with the highest spatial resolution.

Currently, about ten different quantum sensor systems are being actively developed, at different stages of readiness for practical use. According to experts, the introduction of these developments could revolutionize the geological exploration industry.

It is important to note that the technologies being created have a wide application potential. In addition to geological exploration tasks, they can be effectively used in various interdisciplinary projects, which opens up new opportunities for scientific and industrial research.

The relevance of the development is confirmed by statistics: according to the Central Dispatch Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex, in the first six months of 2025, the volume of exploration drilling amounted to 15,440 thousand meters. The introduction of quantum sensors will optimize these processes, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. search work.

Russian innovations in the field of quantum sensors open up new prospects for the country’s mineral resources complex. The use of advanced technologies will not only increase the efficiency of exploration, but also strengthen the position of domestic science in the international arena.
