The RusAl company is considering the possibility of resuming fluorite mining at deposits Voznesensky and Pogranichny in the Primorsky Territory. These facilities, owned by the Yaroslavl Mining Company (YAGOK), contain about 50 million tons of raw materials, making them the largest in Russia.

YAGOK has been supplying the country with fluorite for decades, but in 2013 RusAl mothballed production. The reason is the high cost of production compared to imported raw materials. Now the situation is changing: the company has announced cooperation with a foreign partner who will help introduce modern technologies.

The name of the investor has not yet been disclosed, but it is known that it is a world leader in its field. According to Alexey Arnautov, RusAl’s deputy general director for new projects, the partnership will allow us to modernize the processes of ore mining and beneficiation.

China remains the largest producer of fluorite, producing about 3 million tons per year. It is followed by Mexico, Mongolia and South Africa. Key Chinese companies include Juhua, Dongyue Group and others. RusAl’s entry into the market with new technologies can strengthen Russia’s position in this industry.

The resumption of production will create new jobs and reduce dependence on imports. The introduction of modern methods will make production more efficient, which will have a positive impact on the economy of the region.

RusAl’s plans open a new chapter in the history of the domestic mining industry. The implementation of the project will allow Russia to strengthen its position in the global fluorite market.
