On January 22, the Demo Day of the First Junior Accelerator was held in Moscow. For the first time, young geological exploration projects were publicly presented to investors and mining companies in a format understandable to the market.
Russian geological exploration has been faced with the same problem for a long time. problem: Early stage projects were difficult to present to investors. Ideas, field data and hypotheses were rarely translated into clear investment proposals. Demo Day showed that this gap can be reduced systematically.
Over the course of several months, the accelerator teams finalized their projects: packaged them, described the stages of work, risks and possible development scenarios. As a result, four initiatives of the first stream were presented at the site – “Lekyn Talbei Copper Cluster”, “Niyayuskaya Square”, “Shermen” and “Upper Kolpinskaya Square”. The presentations were not a report, but the beginning of a discussion of investments and partnerships.
More than 130 people took part in the event. Among them are representatives of large mining companies, financial institutions and private investors. The uniqueness of the format was that all parties spoke the same language: they discussed not only geology, but also the economics of projects, the logic of development and possible benefits.
Participants noted that in addition to the stage, live communication played an important role. Informal conversations allowed us to ask practical questions, clarify details and identify potential points of cooperation. According to guest reviews, it was this part that gave the maximum benefit.
Experts from the financial and industrial sectors emphasized the high level of preparation of projects at such an early stage. The teams presented structured proposals that save investors time and immediately transfer the dialogue to a professional level.
Demo Day was not the final, but start of the next stage. Now projects are moving on to finding capital, clarifying work programs and preparing for the field season. For the geological exploration market, this is a signal of the emergence of a sustainable format for working with junior teams and the formation of a new approach to investment in early stages.
