While most are preparing for the holidays, industry is showing peak activity. Specific projects in the field of mining and hydrocarbon production are often timed to coincide with the end of the year. This allows companies to execute strategic plans and lay the foundation for the future.
In the Murmansk region, on December 12, 2025, at the Rasvumchorr Plateau mine, the Apatit company mined the first batch of apatite-nepheline ore. This is an important event for the PhosAgro group. By the end of the year they planned to extract 150 thousand tons of raw materials. The full capacity of the enterprise will be 6 million tons of ore per year.
On December 27, 2021, the Tugansky mining and processing plant started operations in the Tomsk region. The Ilmenit enterprise, part of the Rosatom division, reached its planned production volume in the spring of next year. The plant produces 575 thousand tons of ilmenite-zircon sands annually.
Another example is the launch of the Mikheevsky GOK in the Chelyabinsk region on December 17, 2013. Russian Copper Company is developing here field porphyry copper ores. In 2023, a project was approved that will increase production to 31 million tons of ore per year.
Major events also took place in the gas industry. On December 21, 2022, the Kovyktinskoye gas condensate field was launched in the Irkutsk region. The project operator is Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk. The enterprise will reach a maximum capacity of 27.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Simultaneously with the field, an important section of the main gas pipeline was put into operation.
In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Semakovskoye gas field began operation on December 6, 2022. The project is being implemented by the joint venture RusGazAlliance. Production at the field will gradually increase. By 2027, it is planned to reach the design level of 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
The December industrial launches are not an accident, but part of the companies’ long-term strategy. The launch of facilities before the New Year allows you to take stock and create the groundwork for future growth. Such projects strengthen the raw materials sector of the economy and ensure a stable supply of resources.
