In Russia, work is underway to create new federal norms and regulations in the field of industrial safety. The documents will concern ensuring the sustainability of underground mine workings during the development of ore, non-metallic and coal deposits.
The VIII Technical Council on geomechanics, which will be held on February 5, 2026 at the Mining Institute NUST MISIS. The event will take place as part of the International Scientific Symposium “Miner’s Week 2026”.
Council participants will consider key issues of industrial safety. The program includes reports on assessing the stability of workings and the quality of rocks. Experts will discuss the choice of type and parameters of support, management of risks of loss of stability. Special attention will be paid to determining the stable dimensions of the cleaning chambers and ensuring the stability of the shafts.
Great emphasis will be placed on modern working methods. Experts will present reports on the creation of geotechnical models and organization of monitoring. Numerical modeling and safety audits at mining enterprises will not be left without attention.
