Rosprirodnadzor will begin large-scale inspections in 2026 gold mining enterprises. The revisions will affect classification, disposal and payments for waste. The goal is to stop violations and reduce environmental damage.
The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources has announced a large-scale audit of mining industry companies. The decision was made following a meeting in the department. Control activities will begin in 2026 and will focus on auditing the management of waste from mining, enrichment and processing of minerals.
Particular attention will be paid gold mining sector. In Russia, work is being carried out at 368 sites for the extraction of ore gold. 51 hazardous production facilities for ore processing and 118 waste disposal facilities are registered.
According to Rosprirodnadzor, unscrupulous companies often violate technological processing projects. They do not process waste management permits in a timely manner, do not keep records of them, and do not fully pay for the negative impact on nature. This causes serious damage to the ecology of the regions.
The inspections will affect sludge ponds and waste storage facilities. Inspectors will check the validity of the waste hazard classification. Often, enterprises declare waste from the processing industry as mining waste, which leads to underpayments.
New measures by Rosprirodnadzor are aimed at increasing the environmental responsibility of business.
