In 2024, Russia allocated a record 450 billion rubles for geological exploration work. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting of the board of Rosnedra. This amount became the largest in the history of industry financing.
According to Patrushev, Rosnedra must ensure a constant search for new deposits. The country’s raw material security depends on this. The state is actively attracting investments into the industry, thanks to which the amount of funding is growing every year.
Over the past 10 years, investment in exploration has significantly increased reserves of gold, copper, iron and oil. In addition, open deposits of rare and rare earth metals, which are used in high-tech industries.
Despite its success, Russia continues to import 17 types of strategic raw materials. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to more actively search for new deposits of the most popular resources.
To solve these problems, the government plans to allocate more than 50 billion rubles for state geological exploration over three years. These funds will help prepare at least 60 new sites for development.
