The Russian company Operational Excellence will present its intelligent systems for quarry management at the world’s largest exhibition of the mining industry, Mining Indaba 2026 in South Africa. These solutions have already been tested at a coal mine in the Sakhalin region.
The development is a complex of programs based on artificial intelligence, designed for operational management of open-pit mining operations. The system collects and analyzes data flow from heavy equipment and technological processes in real time.
As the general director of the development company, Vladimir Svintsov, explained, the key task of the system is not just collecting information, but its translation into ready-made management decisions. This allows dispatchers to respond more quickly to downtime, schedule deviations, and prevent potential disruptions to quarry operations.
According to the developers, the introduction of such AI solutions can lead to significant increases in efficiency. It is potentially possible to increase the volume of rock mass transportation up to 17%, increase productivity in stripping operations up to 12% and reduce the specific fuel consumption of equipment up to 10%. Specific results depend on the conditions of each specific enterprise.
