To mark the second anniversary of GeoConversation: Salt of the Earth, we are launching the English-language version of our website. This is more than a simple translation of our articles—it’s the next stage in the evolution of our media platform. From now on, our coverage of geology, mineral exploration, mining, technology, and the people behind the industry is accessible to readers around the world.
The idea did not emerge because of an anniversary. For a long time, we have recognized that many of the topics we cover extend far beyond the Russian-speaking audience. Mineral resources, exploration, the energy transition, technological innovation, and artificial intelligence in the mining industry are all part of a global conversation. We also believe that English-speaking professionals can benefit from understanding developments in Russia, Kazakhstan, and other countries across the Russian-speaking mining and geological community.
We have translated the entire website into English, including feature articles, daily news, our “Explainers” section, editorial columns, and other content. Artificial intelligence made this possible, allowing us to complete the project quickly, efficiently, and within the limited budget of an independent industry publication.
Translation quality has been reviewed by native English speakers and industry specialists. According to their feedback, many articles read as though they were originally written in English. Naturally, highly specialized terminology requires ongoing attention. Whenever we identify inaccuracies, we refine the translations and further improve the AI model. That is one of the key advantages of this approach: translation is not a one-time service but an evolving technological process.
For GeoConversation, this is also an AI experiment of our own. We regularly write about new technologies transforming geology and mining, and now we are applying those same technologies to the development of our own publication.
Our next step is to expand our international coverage with more globally relevant content, including interviews with English-speaking experts, in-depth articles on worldwide industry trends, and broader promotion of GeoConversation to readers across the globe.
