MISiS scientists together with Chinese specialists have developed an innovative extraction method gold. The technology can significantly reduce the time and costs of precious metal production.
Russian scientists from MISiS, together with their Chinese colleagues, presented a revolutionary gold mining technology. The method is based on ammonium cyanide leaching and promises to become a new word in gold mining industry.
The key advantage of the development was a significant reduction in costs. The cost of one ounce of gold obtained in the traditional way often reaches $800. New technology can reduce costs by 30-40%, making production much more profitable.
An equally important achievement was the rapid acceleration of the process. At the Tarorsky deposit in Tajikistan and the Bereznyakovsky deposit in the Chelyabinsk region, gold extraction time was reduced from 100-120 hours to just 14-18 hours. This is 4-8 times faster than standard methods.
The technology is of particular value for ores with high copper content, which were previously considered problematic. Pilot tests were successfully carried out at the Taror deposit, where traditional methods were unable to remove copper.
The innovative method is applicable not only to traditional deposits throughout Russia, but also for recycling electronic scrap. The technology opens up new opportunities for the gold mining industry, making production more efficient and cost-effective.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
