Specialists of Perm Polytechnic university presented an innovative method of deposit analysis that identifies areas with high gold content with up to 90% accuracy. The technology also evaluates the economic viability of mining, helping companies avoid unprofitable projects.
The program combines artificial intelligence, geographic information systems and geological exploration data. She analyzes:
- rock composition;
- tectonic faults;
- magnetic survey results.
Based on this data, the neural network predicts the gold content and calculates the potential profit from developing the deposit.
According to Professor Rustam Faizrakhmanov, head of the department at PNRPU, the method allows:
- reduce exploration costs;
- focus on promising areas;
- minimize risks when investing in production.
The technology was tested on data from a gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire. The forecast accuracy was:
- 90% for zones with high gold content;
- 89% for transition areas.
Scientists note that the algorithm can be adapted to search for other minerals, such as copper, diamonds or rare earth metals. This opens up new opportunities for the mining industry.
The new method of Perm Polytechnic University is an important step in the digitalization of geological exploration. The technology not only improves search accuracy, but also makes resource extraction more cost-effective. The implementation of such solutions can change the approach to field development in Russia and the world.
