The enterprise in the Termez free economic zone began processing Afghan gold. This project will not only develop the jewelry industry in the region, but also increase the export of finished products with high added value.
A new industrial project has been launched in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. Termiz Gold Production Company has started processing gold raw materials, imported from Afghanistan.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of the regional administration and the Customs Committee. Previously, Afghan gold mainly passed through the territory of Uzbekistan in transit, heading to other countries. Now the raw materials will be processed locally, which will allow the production of semi-finished and finished jewelry for subsequent export.
At a meeting of customs representatives with the management of enterprises and an Afghan gold mining company, the advantages of the customs processing regime were discussed. It is noted that the project will increase the industrial potential of the Surkhandarya region, contribute to the development of the jewelry industry and create additional jobs.
At the first stage, 20 kilograms were sent for processing gold raw materials. Its estimated value is about $2.9 million. Successful implementation of the pilot batch will allow scaling the project and attracting new investors.
Experts emphasize that the localization of precious metal processing is beneficial for the regional economy. It simplifies customs procedures, increases tax revenues and enhances the investment attractiveness of the region.
